Modified Alkyd
A premium quality penetrating wood stain and finish for interior wood and wood
products. Lead, mercury and chromate free.
For industrial, commercial and residential use on new or unpainted interior wood
surfaces. For use on properly prepared wood, composition board, plywood and other
wood products. Excellent as a stain and sealer where a natural wood grain finish is
desired.
NUWOOD Penetrating Wood Finish exhibits excellent penetrating and working properties
on wood surfaces. Long open time allows even application without streaking. Uniform
penetration and easy application for a beautiful, natural wood grain appearance. Lead,
mercury and chromate free.
Available in Natural and several attractive wood tones as shown on the Color Card. Also
available in a tint base for a wide range of colors produced using the Color Studio
System. Refer to special wood stain color cards in the Color Studio System for color
selection.

Recommended Film Thickness - This product is designed as a penetrating finish and
film thickness cannot be accurately measured.
Theoretical Coverage - Coverage will vary with the porosity of the surface and should
be approximately 750 square feet per gallon.

manufactured to meet the highest level of consistency and quality for the intended use. Mobile Paint warrants that its products meet the specifications which it sets for them. Should
this product be proven to be off-specification within one year from date of shipment, Mobile Paint will, at its sole discretion, either replace the product or issue credit for the original
purchase price of the product. The replacement or refund shall be the buyer s sole remedy and Mobile Paint and its affiliates MAKE NO OTHER WARRANTY OR GUARANTEE,

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
penetrate surface for 10 to 15 minutes and wipe off
excess with a clean, lint free cloth. Apply at a
spreading rate of approximately 750 square feet per
gallon. If desired, a second coat of stain can be applied
after the first coat has dried approximately 8 hours.
Note: Experiment on a piece of similar scrap wood or
an area that does not show to determine the most
pleasing color and appearance.
Topcoating: Although this product can be used as a
stain and finish, a clear finish such as NUWOOD
Polyurethane Gloss Finish 72-35, NUWOOD Polyurethane
Satin Finish 72-36 or NUWOOD Tung Oil Clear
Stain 72-45 is recommended for maximum protection
and durability. Allow final coat of NUWOOD Penetrating
Wood Finish to dry 24 hours before application of
clear finishes.
Equipment: Brush - Use a good quality bristle brush.
Cloth - A good quality, lint free cloth is excellent for
applying stain to large and intricate surfaces. Conventional
spray - (Suggested for professional application
only) For suction feed, use DeVilbiss MBC gun with E
tip and needle and 30 air cap or equivalent at 25-30 psi
atomizing pressure. For pressure feed, use DeVilbiss
MBC gun with E tip and needle and 704 air cap or
equivalent at 25-30 psi atomizing pressure and 5-8 psi
fluid pressure, 3/8" ID material hose, double regulated
pressure tank with oil and moisture separator.
Cleanup: Clean all equipment immediately after use
with MoPaxOl Thinner 75-1 or mineral spirits. Completely
flush all spray equipment with either of these
solvents. Occasional flushing of spray equipment
during the course of the working day helps prevent
buildup and possible clogging.
Safety: Safe storage, handling and use dictate that
adequate health and safety precautions be observed
with this product and any recommended thinners. User
is specifically directed to consult the current Material
Safety Data Sheet for this product as well as precautions
contained on product labeling.

Consult your Mobile Paint Representative for the protective
coating system best suited for your requirements.
Limitations: Apply in good weather when air and
surface temperatures are above 40oF and surface temperature
is at least 5oF above the dew point. For
optimum application properties, material should be
between 70 to 100oF prior to mixing and application.
Maintain unmixed material in closed containers in
protected storage at 40 - 100oF. NOTE: Some plastic
and synthetic products can become discolored from
direct contact with surfaces finished only with wood
stains. For best results and maximum durability, apply
a clear varnish finish to all surfaces coated with wood
stain (See Topcoating Section). Not recommended for
exterior use.
Surface Preparation: Good surface preparation is
essential to a satisfactory coating system. Surfaces to
be coated must be clean and dry. Remove all dust, dirt,
oil, wax, polish and any other surface contamination.
New or Unfinished Wood - New or unfinished wood
should be sanded with fine sand paper following with
the grain. Remove all sanding dust by vacuuming and/
or dusting the surface with a tack cloth. Fill knot holes
and cracks with the appropriate putty or filler. Sand the
filled areas smooth and remove dust.
Previously Finished Surfaces - This product is for
application to unfinished wood surfaces only. Wood
surfaces to be finished should have all previous finishes
completely removed by sanding or stripping with
NUWOOD Furniture Refinisher 74-28 or NUWOOD
Water Wash Paint & Varnish Remover 74-26. All
traces of contamination or residue from stripping must
be completely removed before staining with this product.
Mixing: This is a one component coating. Always
hand mix thoroughly with a paddle before application.
Any settled pigment should be completely redispersed
before application.
Thinning: This product is supplied at the proper
application viscosity. Thinning is not recommended.
See cleanup paragraph for cleanup thinner.
Application: Apply by brush or lint free cloth. Rubber
gloves should be worn when applying this product by
cloth to prevent prolonged skin contact. Allow stain to
